Mark D. Moore worked for NASA for over 32 years before joining Uber, the entire time focusing on conceptual design studies of advanced aircraft concepts. He received his Master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Stanford University and is currently completing his Ph.D. at Georgia Tech. His research focused on understanding how to best integrate the emerging technology area of electric propulsion and automation to achieve breakthrough on-demand aviation capabilities. He has authored many technical publications promoting a future vision of emerging distributed aviation markets, with his recent papers highlighting the disruptive technology capabilities of electric propulsion to fundamentally alter current General Aviation capabilities. His research efforts include advanced concepts relating to On-Demand Mobility, Personal Air Vehicles, Aerial Robotics, Atmospheric Satellites, and Airborne Wind Turbines. He left NASA to transform electric VTOL from research into development reality as a principal contributor in the Uber Elevate ecosystem initiative.
He co-founded Uber Elevate and in 4 years established aerial ride sharing as a collaborative ecosystem with over $3.5B investment enabling aerial ride sharing. Currently, He founded Whisper Aero and works as Chief Executive Officer to develop the tech that all eVTOL aircraft use to achieve ultra safe, quiet and efficient flight.
