Adam Cheyer is a pioneering entrepreneur and AI innovator best known as the co-founder of Siri, the world’s first AI voice assistant. Following Siri’s acquisition by Apple, he served as Vice President of Engineering, leading the commercialization and advancement of AI voice assistant technologies. He later co-founded Viv Labs, which was acquired by Samsung Electronics, where he led the development of a next-generation conversational AI platform. Viv Labs became the foundation of Samsung’s AI voice assistant Bixby, marking a major milestone in the evolution of global AI technologies.
Cheyer also served as Vice President of AI Experience at Airbnb, where he led AI-driven user experience innovation and service strategy. In addition, he is a founding member and advisor to Change.org and has co-founded several AI startups, including the machine learning company Sentient and decision intelligence company GamePlanner.AI.
Prior to his entrepreneurial ventures, Cheyer spent more than a decade at SRI International, where he served as Chief Architect of the DARPA-funded CALO/PAL project, one of the largest AI initiatives undertaken by the U.S. government. The project later became the technological foundation for Siri.
He currently serves on the Science Advisory Council at Brandeis University and the Science & Technology Advisory Committee at UC San Diego. Cheyer earned an MS in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence from UCLA and a BA in Computer Science from Brandeis University. He holds more than 50 patents and has authored over 60 publications. His contributions to the AI industry have been widely recognized through honors including the SXSW Interactive Award and MIT Technology Review’s “Top 10 Emerging Technologies.”
