Jeffrey E. Garten is the Juan Trippe Professor in the Practice of International Trade, Finance and Business, and also the former Dean of the Yale School of Management. He teaches courses on the global economy and also on global financial centers. Prior to coming to Yale, Garten was the Undersecretary of Commerce for International Trade in the Clinton administration. Prior to that, he also served in the Nixon, Ford, and Carter administrations in economic and foreign policy positions. He served on Wall Street with Lehman Bros., where he ran all of the firm’s Asian investment banking business from Tokyo, and he was also a managing director of the Blackstone Group, specializing in global mergers and acquisitions. Garten is the author of several books on the global economy and writes frequently for major publications around the world.
